The tradition of baking of rye bread in Derkaushchyna village  Glybokae District, Vitebsk Region is a living manifestation of the unique local culture.

In the village the  ancient  methods  and  technology  maintain and practice by a few families. The bearers of  the tradition bake bread for his own use , as well as commissioned by the villagers for various festivals and events .

The process of making rye bread involves several stages : 1) preparation “Kvasnik” (leaven) , kvass , which revealed bread, pastries and baking bread.

The traditional tools use to prepare the bread in the traditional technology: rake , wooden shovel, a bowl, homemade tin , shape , wooden spoon.

The tradition is transmitted from generation to generation in families of Derkaushchyna  village, as well as through the local education system . It is recognized by the bearers as their heritage. Safeguarding  the recipes and technologies of  bread strengthens the identity of the local population and  highlights  the culture of  Glybokae  district  among other cultures of the country.
